Dog Walking FAQ & Pet Care Tips

What can I do to help?

Please share anything that helps us understand your dog - even small details make a big difference. Things like recall cues/commands, nervous habits, favourite games, or anything they’re unsure about; this really helps us give them the best experience.

And most importantly… please leave a towel out! Muddy paws and drying them is all part of the service. Having a towel ready makes everyone’s life much easier (including your floors!).

My dog pulls on the lead...

Many dogs get excited on walks and naturally want to move faster than we do.

We’ve had great success using a front-clip walking harness paired with a training leash that attaches at both the chest and back. This setup gives you more control while keeping your dog comfortable. Applying gentle, steady pressure to the chest attachment helps guide your dog back toward you and encourages calmer, more focused walking.

Will you train my dog?

We don’t replace formal training, but we are really happy to reinforce the commands and behaviours you’re already working on at home.

Do you take on reactive/dangerous dogs?

No. We strongly encourage contacting a fully qualified behaviourist who can provide the appropriate specialist support.

What is your top tip for a happy dog?

After all my years of walking dogs, socialisation is absolutely key - especially from an early age.

Dogs are naturally social, loving animals. Giving them regular opportunities to explore the world, stop and sniff, meet other dogs, and calmly say hello to people helps build confidence and emotional balance.

Many common behavioural issues can be reduced - or even avoided - when dogs aren’t isolated and instead have positive, controlled social experiences.

A well-socialised dog is typically more relaxed, adaptable, and happier overall!

You walk 15 miles a day - how long do your boots last?

About 8-12 weeks! I am always on the lookout for any good tips, I have tried so many... from Meindl army boots to Berghaus and everything in between - they don’t seem to stand much of a chance!
